This seriously smells like Christmas guys, I love it! So this is the last in my little run of Turmeric foods and drinks and we’re going out with a bang! This time we’re using fresh turmeric for this rejuvenating Turmeric spiced tea, so you can enjoy all the spices in their purest form!
So I never even thought about this being so festive when I was thinking about ingredients for a spiced tea but when I put it together and photographed it on the deck (which was still frosty from the morning) it all made sense! So if you’re looking for something to get you in the christmas mood in the lead up, without it being an indulgence, this is perfect.
When I first heard about Turmeric I was trying it out in everything but turmeric tea or a turmeric lattes just weren’t quite working. I was using powdered cinnamon and powdered turmeric and it was just turning into a bit of a sandy tasting mess! Then I realised I could actually get all these spices in their natural state. Everything in the recipe is in its original form, so no grit, just a warm refreshing tea!And of course this wouldn’t be healthfoodhoney, if this didn’t pack a powerful healthy punch. You’re getting a great little combination here with the cinnamon to balance blood sugars, the turmeric for its anti inflammatory and cancer fighting pow! Along with lemon and ginger to help alkalise the body and help lower cholesterol and aid digestion plus nausea. So a fantastic little power tea if you’re pregnant and suffering with morning sickness…or fighting against disease. You get some incredibly powerful nutrients and a lovely calming effect on your stomach!
- finger of fresh turmeric
- three/four lemon slices
- plus a small squeeze of lemon
- 1 cinnamon stick
- a large coin sized slice of ginger
- a couple of whole peppercorns
- Add all the ingredients into your tea pot and top up with boiling water.
- Allow to brew for 3-5minutes then pour.
- The turmeric will stain everything including your fingers! I find I can manage it by holding it in place with a fork. My mum uses gloves for preparing hers, so its up to you as to your preference.
